Use of information contained in register of electors

1. (1) The information (including information not contained in the edited register) contained in the register of electors may be accessed and used for the purpose of selecting citizens of Ireland to be members of each of the bodies established—

(a) pursuant to a decision of the Government made on 11 June 2019 (each such body having been described by that decision as a citizens’ assembly), and

(b) in accordance with resolutions of Dáil Éireann and Seanad Éireann passed before, on or after the commencement of this Act.

(2) Subsection (3) of section 13A of the Act of 1992 shall not apply to the use of information in the register of electors in accordance with this section.

(3) In this section—

“Act of 1992” means the Electoral Act 1992 ;

“edited register” has the meaning assigned to it by Part II of the Act of 1992;

“register of electors” means—

(a) the register within the meaning of Part II of the Act of 1992,

(b) any draft register within such meaning, or

(c) the supplement to the said register prepared under section 15 of that Act.
