Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 10th November, 2017.

I, SIMON HARRIS, Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by subsection (2) of section 11 of the Medical Practitioners (Amendment) Act 2017 (No. 10 of 2017), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Medical Practitioners (Amendment) Act 2017 (Commencement) Order 2017.

2. The 6th day of November 2017 is appointed as the day on which the Medical Practitioners (Amendment) Act 2017 (No. 10 of 2017) shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order commences The Medical Practitioners (Amendment) Act 2017 (No. 10 of 2017) on 6 November 2017. The Act amends The Medical Practitioners Act 2007 to provide for a requirement for medical practitioners to have medical indemnity insurance except in certain circumstances; and to provide for related matters.
