S.I. No. 272/2017 - Health Professionals (Reduction of Payments to Community Pharmacy Contractors) (Amendment) Regulations 2017.

I, SIMON HARRIS, Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 9 (as amended by section 8 of the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Act 2015 (No. 39 of 2015)) of the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Act 2009 (No. 5 of 2009) (as adapted by the Health and Children (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2011 ( S.I. No. 219 of 2011 )) and the Finance (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order 2011 ( S.I. No. 418 of 2011 ), having complied with subsections (4), (7) and (13) of that section, with the consent of the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, hereby make the following regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Health Professionals (Reduction of Payments to Community Pharmacy Contractors) (Amendment) Regulations 2017.

(2) These Regulations come into operation on 1 July 2017.

2. Schedule 2 to the Health Professionals (Reduction of Payments to Community Pharmacy Contractors) Regulations 2013 ( S.I. No. 279 of 2013 ) is amended by inserting after item 7 the following:

“8.

Payment per provision of emergency hormonal contraception service without a prescription from a general practitioner

€11.50 plus dispensing fee as applicable”

The Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform consents to the making of the foregoing Regulations.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations give effect to payment under the General Medical Services Scheme, as provided for in the Financial Emergency Measures in the Public Interest Acts 2009-2015, for the provision of an emergency hormonal contraception service by community pharmacy contractors.

These Regulations may be cited as the Health Professionals (Reduction of Payments to Community Pharmacy Contractors) (Amendment) Regulations 2017.
