I, MICHAEL CREED, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving full effect to Commission Regulation (EC) No 206/2009 of 5 March 20091 , hereby make the following Regulations: | ||
1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Import of Personal Consignments of Products of Animal Origin) (Amendment) Regulations 2016. | ||
2. The European Communities (Import of Personal Consignments of Products of Animal Origin) Regulations 2012 ( S.I. No. 374 of 2012 ) are amended by the insertion, after Regulation 4, of- | ||
“5.(1) Where an authorised officer, in exercise of the powers conferred on him or her by section 38 of the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013 , seizes and detains an animal product, the officer may destroy or dispose of the animal product or cause it to be destroyed or disposed of.”. | ||
