S.I. No. 566/2014 - Building Control (Prescribed Qualifications) Regulations 2014.

I, PAUDIE COFFEY, Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government by section 64 of the Building Control Act 2007 (No. 21 of 2007) (as adapted by the Environment, Heritage and Local Government (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2011 ( S.I. No. 193 of 2011 ), which powers are delegated to me by the Environment, Community and Local Government (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order 2014 ( S.I. No. 524 of 2014 ), hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Building Control (Prescribed Qualifications) Regulations 2014.

2. The qualification specified in the Schedule to these Regulations is prescribed for the purposes of section 14 (2)(a)(iii) of the Building Control Act 2007 (No. 21 of 2007).

SCHEDULE

PRESCRIBED QUALIFICATIONS

The following qualification is prescribed pursuant to article 14(2)(a)(iii) of the Building Control Act 2007 :

(i) Master of Architecture Degree awarded jointly by University College Cork and the Cork Institute of Technology through the Cork Centre for Architectural Education.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

Section 14 of the Building Control Act 2007 provides that the Minister may prescribe additional qualifications and educational bodies to those recognised in the Act as being suitable for the purpose of the registration of certain persons in the register of Architects established under Part 3 of the Building Control Act 2007 .

The Master of Architecture Degree awarded jointly by University College Cork and the Cork Institute of Technology through the Cork Centre for Architectural Education, as referred to in the Schedule, is newly prescribed under these Regulations.
