I, SIMON COVENEY, Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 39 and 40 of the Abattoirs Act 1988 (No. 8 of 1988) (as adapted by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2011 ( S.I. No. 455 of 2011 )), hereby make the following Regulations: | ||
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Abattoirs Act 1988 (Veterinary Examination and Health Mark) (Revocation) Regulations 2014. | ||
2. The Abattoirs Act 1988 (Veterinary Examination and Health Mark) (No. 2) Regulations 2009 ( S.I. No. 373 of 2009 ) are revoked. | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE | ||

In accordance with Commission Regulation (EU) No. 218/2014, emergency slaughter meat which has successfully passed meat inspection does not constitute a risk to public health. The requirement for a special health mark and the restriction to the national market for such meat has been discontinued. | ||
These Regulations accordingly revoke the Abattoirs Act 1988 (Veterinary Examination and Health Mark) (No. 2) Regulations 2009. |
