EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

In accordance with Commission Regulation (EU) No. 218/2014, emergency slaughter meat which has successfully passed meat inspection does not constitute a risk to public health. The requirement for a special health mark and the restriction to the national market for such meat has been discontinued.

These Regulations accordingly revoke the Abattoirs Act 1988 (Veterinary Examination and Health Mark) (No. 2) Regulations 2009.
