S.I. No. 486/2013 - Harbours Act 1996 (Establishment of the Pilotage District of Bantry Bay Harbour) Order 2013.

I, LEO VARADKAR, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by subsection (1) of section 79 (as amended by section 16 of the Harbours (Amendment) Act 2009 (No. 26 of 2009)) of the Harbours Act 1996 (No. 11 of 1996) and the Maritime Transport, Safety and Security (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order 2005 ( S.I. No. 842 of 2005 ) (as adapted by the Transport (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2011 ( S.I. No. 141 of 2011 )), and having complied with subsection (2A) of that section 79, hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Harbours Act 1996 (Establishment of the Pilotage District of Bantry Bay Harbour) Order 2013.

2. This Order comes into operation on 1 January 2014.

3. A pilotage district, the limits of which are specified in Article 4 and which shall be known as, and is in this Order referred to as, the “pilotage district of Bantry Bay Harbour”, is hereby established.

4. The limits of the pilotage district of Bantry Bay Harbour shall be the sea area contained within an imaginary line drawn from Furze Point 51° 40.10N 009° 44.70 W to Roancarrigmore Light House 51°39.20N 009°44.90W and an imaginary line drawn from the said lighthouse to “Glanrooncoosh” 51°35.70N 009° 44.50W.

5. There is hereby conferred on the Port of Cork Company the function of organising and ensuring the provision of pilotage services in the pilotage district of Bantry Bay Harbour by one of the means specified in section 56 (1) of the Harbours Act 1996 (No.11 of 1996).
