S.I. No. 10/2013 - Road Traffic (National Car Test) (Amendment) Regulations 2013.

I, LEO VARADKAR, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 18 of the Road Traffic Act 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and section 2 of the Road Traffic Act 2006 (No. 23 of 2006) (as adapted by the Transport (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2011 ( S.I. No. 141 of 2011 ), hereby make the following regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (National Car Test) (Amendment) Regulations 2013.

(2) These Regulations come into operation on 4th February, 2013.

2. The Road Traffic (National Car Test) Regulations 2009 ( S.I. No. 567 of 2009 ) are amended by substituting for paragraph (4) of Regulation 3 the following—

“(4) The test due date for a vehicle mentioned in paragraph (3) is the date or anniversary date, as the case may be, mentioned in that paragraph and:

(a) subject to paragraph (b), each subsequent anniversary of those dates; or

(b) where a small public service vehicle has reached the tenth anniversary of the date of its first registration, each subsequent date falling six months after the previous test due date.”.

These Regulations amend Regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic (National Car Test) Regulations 2009 ( S.I. No. 567 of 2009 ) to provide for the testing of small public service vehicles every six months after such vehicles have reached the tenth anniversary of the date of their first registration.
