S.I. No. 562/2010 - Statistics (Community Innovation Survey) Order 2010.


Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 30th November, 2010.

I, BRIAN COWEN, Taoiseach, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 25(1) of the Statistics Act 1993 (No. 21 of 1993), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Statistics (Community Innovation Survey) Order 2010.

2. In this Order—

“forms and questionnaires” means the forms and questionnaires referred to in Article 8(a);

“survey” means the Community Innovation Survey 2010 which is conducted by the Central Statistics Office and is required by Commission Regulation (EC) No. 1450/20041 .

3. Any word or expression used in this Order and which is also used in Commission Regulation (EC) No. 1450/2004 has the same meaning as in that Regulation except where the context otherwise requires.

4. The purpose of this Order also includes giving further effect to Commission Regulation (EC) No. 1450/2004.

5. The survey shall be known and referred to as the Community Innovation Survey 2010.

6. This Order applies to an undertaking that is required by the Central Statistics Office to participate in the survey and that—

(a) engages 10 or more persons, and

(b) is classified for statistical purposes under section B, C, D, E, G, H, J, K or M of NACE Rev. 2, as set out in Annex I to Regulation (EC) No. 1893/2006 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 December 20062 .

7. Each undertaking to which this Order applies is required to provide information to the Central Statistics Office for the purposes of the survey, the general nature of which is specified in the Schedule.

8. An undertaking required by this Order to provide information to the Central Statistics Office shall provide such information—

(a) by the completion of forms and questionnaires prepared by the Director General in accordance with section 23 of the Act, and

(b) where directions under section 26 of the Act have been given to the undertaking, in accordance with those directions.

Article 4

SCHEDULE

Information in relation to the years 2008 to 2010, regarding each of the following:

(a) general information on the business activity;

(b) product (good or service) innovation;

(c) process innovation;

(d) ongoing or abandoned innovation activities for process and product innovations;

(e) innovation activities and expenditures for process and product innovations;

(f) sources of information and co-operation for product and process innovation;

(g) objectives to product and process innovations;

(h) organisational innovation;

(i) marketing innovation;

(j) creativity and skills;

(k) particulars of time taken to complete the questionnaire or form.
