S.I. No. 180/2007 - Prisons Act 2007 (Commencement) Order 2007

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in “Iris Oifigiúil” of 11th May, 2007.

I, MICHAEL McDOWELL, Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (2) of the Prisons Act 2007 (No. 10 of 2007), hereby order as follows:

1.   This Order may be cited as the Prisons Act 2007 (Commencement) Order 2007.

2.   The 1st day of May 2007 is appointed as the day on which Part 1 , Part 4 , Part 5 and Part 6 (other than sections 33 , 34 , 38 and paragraph (a) of section 42 ) of the Prisons Act 2007 come into operation.

This Statutory Instrument brings into operation, with effect from 1 May 2007, certain provisions of the Prisons Act 2007 .
