ORDER

To be made by the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform

I, Michael McDowell, Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by subsections (2) and (3) of section 1 of the Criminal Justice Act 2006 (No. 26 of 2006), and after consultation with the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána in accordance with subsection (3), hereby order as follows:

1.        This Order may be cited as the Criminal Justice Act (Commencement) (No. 2) Order 2007.

2.        In this Order -

“Act of 2001” means the Children Act 2001 (No. 24 of 2001);

“Act of 2006” means the Criminal Justice Act 2006 (No. 26 of 2006).

3.        The 20th day of February 2007 is appointed as the day on which section 148 (in so far as it relates to the insertion of subsections (1) and (9) of section 159B of the Act of 2001) of the Act of 2006 shall come into operation.

4.        The 1st day of March 2007 is appointed as the day on which Parts 12 and 13 of the Act of 2006, other than -

(a)   section 132 (in so far as it relates to the insertion of section 76A(1)(c) of the Act of 2001), and

(b)   section 144,

shall, in so far as not already in operation, come into operation.
