EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (NAMES AND LABELLING OF TEXTILE PRODUCTS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS 2007 |

I, Micheál Martin, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), for the purpose of giving effect to the Commission Directive 2006/3/EC of 9 January 2006 1 , hereby make the following Regulations— |

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in “Iris Oifigiúil” of 19th January, 2007. |
||
|
1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Names and Labelling of Textile Products) (Amendment) Regulations 2007. |
||
|
2. In these Regulations, “Principal Regulations” means the European Communities (Names and Labelling of Textile Products) Regulations 1998 ( S.I. No. 245 of 1998 ). |
||
|
3. Regulation 2 of the Principal Regulations is amended, in the definition of “the Directive”, by inserting after “and Commission Directive No. 2004/34/EC of 23 March 2004” the following: “and Commission Directive 2006/3/EC of 9 January 2006”. |

The labelling of textiles is governed by the Principal Regulations [ S.I. No. 245 of 1998 which transposed EU Directive 96/74/EC]. Commission Directive 2006/3/EC amends the Principal Regulations by adding a new textile called “elastomultiester”. |
