Inland Post Amendment (No. 74) Scheme, 2006.

AN POST, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 70 of the Postal and Telecommunications Act 1983 (No. 24 of 1983) as amended by Regulation 8(4) of the European Communities (Postal Services) Regulations 2002 (S.I. No. 616 of 2002), hereby makes the following Scheme:

1.         This Scheme may be cited as the Inland Post Amendment (No. 74 Scheme, 2006.

2.         This Scheme shall be operative with effect from the 20th February, 2006.

3.         In this Scheme, “the Principal Warrant” means the Inland Post Warrant 1939 (S.I. No. 202 of 1939) as amended:

“Scheme No. 36” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 36) Scheme 1986 (S.I. No. 362 of 1986);

“Scheme No. 66” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 66) Scheme 2002 (S.I. No. 634 of 2002);

“Scheme No. 69” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 69) Scheme 2003 (S.I. No. 400 of 2003);

“Scheme No. 70” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 70) Scheme 2003 (S.I. No. 401 of 2003);

“Scheme No. 71” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 71) Scheme 2003 (S.I. No. 475 of 2003);

“Scheme No. 72” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 72) Scheme 2003 (S.I. No. 476 of 2003);

4.         Words defined in the Principal Warrant shall have the same meaning in this Scheme.

5.         The First Schedule to the Principal Warrant (as inserted by Regulation 7 of Scheme No. 67) is hereby amended by the substitution for the entry “100g” in the fourth column of the entry “50g” in each location where such entry appears and by the deletion of the entries inserted by Regulation 6 of Scheme No. 71.

6.       The First Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the addition of the entries in the First Schedule to this Scheme.

7.       Table A of the Schedule to Scheme No. 69 is hereby amended by the substitution for the entry in the second column and the third column of the entry “<50g” for the entry “<100g”.

8.       Table B of the Schedule to Scheme No. 69 is hereby amended by the substitution for the entry in the second, third and fourth column of the entry “<50g”for the entry “<100g”.

9.       Regulations 4 and 5 of Scheme No. 69 are hereby repealed.

10.     Scheme No. 72 is hereby repealed.

11.     Table A of the Schedule to Scheme 69 is hereby amended by the addition to the entries therein contained of the entries in the Second Schedule to this Scheme.

12.     Table B of the Schedule to Schedule 69 is hereby amended by the addition to the entries therein contained of the entries in the Third Schedule to this Scheme.

13.     With effect from the 20th March, 2006 Table A of the Second Schedule to Scheme No. 69 is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein contained relating to items weighing <50g of the entries in the Fourth Schedule to this Scheme.

14.     With effect from the 20th March, 2006 Table B of the Second Schedule to Scheme No. 69 is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein contained relating to items weighing <50g of the entries in the Fifth Schedule to this Scheme.

15.     The Fifth Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein contained of the entries in the Sixth Schedule to this Scheme.

4.   “Auto-sort” means sortation by An Post's automated sorting equipment.

5.   “Deferred Processing” means sortation at least one business day after the postal packet enters the public postal network.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

This Scheme applies to the Inland Post Service and shall be operative from the 20th day of February, 2006. It changes the rates of postage for items weighing more than 50g and entry conditions for certain discount postal services. It provides for changs in certain discounts with effect from 20th March, 2006.
