S.I. No. 376/2004 - Inland Post Amendment (No. 73) Scheme 2004


AN POST, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by Section 70 of the Postal and Telecommunications Act 1983 (No. 24 of 1983) as amended by Regulation 8(4) of the European Communities (Postal Services) Regulations 2002 ( S.I. No. 616 of 2002 ), hereby makes the following Scheme:

1. This Scheme may be cited as the Inland Post Amendment (No. 73) Scheme 2004.

2. This Scheme shall be operative with effect from the 5th day of January 2004.

3. In this Scheme, “the Principal Warrant” means the Inland Post Warrant 1939 ( S.I. No. 202 of 1939 ) as amended;

“Scheme No. 35” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 35) Scheme 1986 ( S.I. No. 89 of 1986 );

“Scheme No. 47” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 47) Scheme 1991 ( S.I. No. 95 of 1991 );

“Scheme No. 57” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 57) Scheme 1998 ( S.I. No. 129 of 1998 );

“Scheme No. 71” means the Inland Post Amendment (No. 71) Scheme 2003 ( S.I. No. 475 of 2003 ).

4. All rates and charges payable upon letters and postal packets in this Scheme pertain to postal packets outside the “reserved area” as defined by the European Communities (Postal Services) Regulations 2002 ( S.I. No. 616 of 2002 ).

5. Words defined in the Principal Warrant shall have the same meaning in this Scheme.

6. The Fourth Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for Part II (as inserted by Regulation 7 of Scheme No. 71) of the entries in the First Schedule to this Scheme.

7. The Third Schedule to the Principal Warrant is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (as inserted by Regulation 17 of Scheme No. 57) of the entries in the Second Schedule to this Scheme.

8. The Schedule to Scheme No. 35 is hereby amended by the substitution for the entries therein (as inserted by Regulation 16 of Scheme No. 47) of the entries in the Third Schedule to this Scheme.
