S.I. No. 34/2004 - European Communities (Passenger Ships) (Amendment) Regulations 2004

I, DERMOT AHERN, Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving effect to Commission Directive 2003/75/EC of 29 July 2003 on safety rules and standards for passenger ships¹ hereby make the following regulations:

Citation

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Passenger Ships) (Amendment) Regulations 2004.

2. (1) European Communities (Passenger Ships) Regulations 2002 ( S.I. No. 419 of 2002 ) are amended as follows:

(2) In Regulations 2(1) in the definition of “Council Directive” by adding “as amended by Commission Directive 2003/75/EC after “5 November 2002”.

These Regulations amend the European Communities (Passenger Ships) Regulations 2002 to allow a reasonable deadline for applying these specific new requirements to existing ro-ro ships.
