S.I. No. 11/2002 - Public Service Management Act 1997 (Designation of Head of the Office of the Houses of the Oireachtas) Order 2002


The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 1 (1) of the Public Service Management Act 1997 (No. 27 of 1997), hereby order as follows:

1.         (a)        This Order may be cited as the Public Service Management Act 1997 (Designation of Head of the Office of the Houses of the Oireachtas) Order 2002. (An tOrdú fán Acht um Bainistíocht na Seirbhíse Poiblí (Ceann Oifig Thithe an Oireachtais a Ainmniú) 2002.)

(b)        This Order shall come into operation as provided for in Article 4 of this Order.

2.         In this Order -

“Act” means Public Service Management Act 1997 (No.27 of 1997);

“Office” means Office of the Houses of the Oireachtas.

3.         The Clerk of Dáil Éireann is designated to be the Head of the Office for the purposes of the Act.

4.         This Order shall come into operation when the Chairman of Dáil Éireann consents in writing to the application of the Act to the Office, and the Chairman of Seanad Éireann consents in writing to the application of the Act to the Office in relation to the functions relating directly to the business of Seanad Éireann.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order designates the Clerk of Dáil Éireann to be the Head of the Office of the Houses of the Oireachtas under the Public Service Management Act 1997 . The Order takes effect only when the Chairman of Dáil Éireann and the Chairman of Seanad Éireann execute their consent to the application of the Act to that Office.
