S.I. No. 311/2001 - Irish Pound Coinage (Calling In) Order, 2001


I, Charlie McCreevy, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 15 (1) of the Economic and Monetary Union Act, 1998 (No. 38 of 1998), hereby order as follows:

1.   This Order may be cited as the Irish Pound Coinage (Calling In) Order, 2001.

2.   This Order shall come into operation on 10 February 2002.

3.   (1) All coins of the denominations specified in the Schedule to this Order issued under the Decimal Currency Acts, 1969 to 1990, are called in with effect from the coming into operation of this Order to the extent not previously called in.

(2) All coins of the denomination of ten shillings issued under the Coinage Act, 1950 (No. 32 of 1950), are called in with effect from the coming into operation of this Order.

(3) All coins of the denomination of one pound issued pursuant to section 30 of the Economic and Monetary Union Act, 1998 (No. 38 of 1998), are called in with effect from the coming into operation of this Order.

One pound.

Fifty pence.
