S.I. No. 65/2001 - European Communities (Minimum Stocks of Petroleum Oils) (Amendment) Regulations, 2001


I, Mary O'Rourke, Minister for Public Enterprise, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving effect to Council Directive 98/93/EC of 14 December 19981 , hereby make the following Regulations:

1.     These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Minimum Stocks of Petroleum Oils) (Amendment) Regulations, 2001.

2.     Regulation 2(2) of the European Communities (Minimum Stocks of Petroleum Oils) Regulations, 1995 ( S.I. No. 96 of 1995 ), is amended by the substitution for the definition of “the 1968 Directive” of the following definition:

“ ‘the 1968 Directive’ means Council Directive 68/414/EEC of 20 December 19682 , as amended by Council Directive 98/93/EC of 14 December 19681 ;”.

Explanatory Note

These Regulations give effect to Council Directive 98/93/EC which amended Council Directive 68/414/EEC on compulsory oil stockholding in the EU internal market. These Regulations expand the definition of “the 1968 Directive” in the European Communities (Minimum Stocks of Petroleum Oils) Regulations, 1995 ( S.I. No. 96 of 1995 ) to include a reference to Directive 98/93/EC.
