MECHANICALLY PROPELLED VEHICLES (INTERNATIONAL CIRCULATION) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1998.

In exercise of the powers conferred on the Minister for the Environment and Local Government by Section 38 of the Local Government Act, 1955 (No. 9 of 1955), which powers are delegated to me by the Environment and Local Government (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1997, I, ROBERT MOLLOY, Minister of State at the Department of the Environment and Local Government hereby make the following Order:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Mechanically Propelled Vehicles (International Circulation) (Amendment) Order, 1998.

2. The Mechanically Propelled Vehicles (International Circulation) Order, 1992, ( S.I. No. 384 of 1992 ) is hereby amended by:—

(a) the addition of the following definition to article 4 (1)—

"RAC Motoring Services (Ireland)" means RAC Motoring Services (Ireland) of Newmount House, 22-24 Lower Mount Street, Dublin 2; and

(b) the substitution of the following article for article 11—

"11. As regards persons holding driving licences (other than driving licences on which the words "Visitor's Driving Licence" have been added), the Automobile Association and RAC Motoring Services (Ireland) are hereby authorised to issue international driving permits under and in accordance with the Convention of 1949 and in accordance with any directions given from time to time by the Minister and to charge for each permit a fee of four pounds (£4)."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order designates RAC Motoring Services (Ireland) as an approved issuing authority for international driving permits in addition to the previously designated issuing authority, the Automobile Association.
