COURTS (SUPPLEMENTAL PROVISIONS) ACT, 1961 (SECTION 46) ORDER, 1998.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 46 (9) of the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act, 1961 (No. 39 of 1961) (inserted by section 1 of the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) (Amendment) (No. 2) Act, 1968 (No. 21 of 1968)), as amended by sections 8 and 9 of the Oireachtas (Allowances to Members) and Ministerial, Parliamentary and Judicial Offices (Amendment) Act, 1983 (No. 32 of 1983), hereby make the following Order:

1. This Order may be cited as the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act, 1961 (Section 46) Order, 1998.

2. The annual sums payable by way of remuneration under subsections (1), (2), (3) and (9) (which subsections were inserted by the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) (Amendment) (No. 2) Act, 1968 (No. 21 of 1968)) of section 46 of the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act, 1961 (No. 39 of 1961), to the Chief Justice and each ordinary Judge of the Supreme Court, the President of the High Court and each ordinary Judge of the High Court, the President of the Circuit Court and each ordinary Judge of the Circuit Court and the President of the District Court and each other Judge of the District Court, with effect from 1 April, 1997 shall be—

(a) to the Chief Justice —£104,535

(b) to the President of the High Court —£94,132

(c) to each ordinary Judge of the Supreme Court —£90,597

(d) to each ordinary Judge of the High Court —£83,426

(e) to the President of the Circuit Court —£83,426

(f) to each ordinary Judge of the Circuit Court —£65,650

(g) to the President of the District Court —£65,650

(h) to each other Judge of the District Court —£54,540.
