WILDLIFE (WILD BIRDS) (OPEN SEASONS) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1997.

I, SÍLE DE VALERA, Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 8 and 24 of the Wildlife Act, 1976 (No. 39 of 1976), and the Heritage (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1994 ( S.I. No. 443 of 1994 ) and as adapted by the Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1997 ( S.I. No. 306 of 1997 ) do hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Wildlife (Wild Birds) (Open Seasons) (Amendment) Order, 1997.

(2) The Wildlife (Wild Birds) (Open Seasons) Orders, 1979 to 1996, and this Order may be cited together as the Wildlife (Wild Birds) (Open Seasons) Orders, 1979 to 1997.

2. In this Order the "Principal Order" means the Wildlife (Wild Birds) (Open Seasons) Order, 1979 ( S.I. No. 192 of 1979 ).

3. The First Schedule to the "Principal Order" is hereby amended by the substitution of the following for the entry in Part I.

Red Grouse

From the 1st day of September in any year to the 30th day of September in the same year, both dates inclusive.

Mallard

Teal

Gadwall

Wigeon

Pintail

Scaup

From the 1st day of September in any year to the 31st day of January in the following year, both dates inclusive.

Red-legged Partridge

From the 1st day of November in any year to the 31st day of January in the following year, both dates inclusive.

From the 1st day of November in any year to the 31st day of January in the following year, both dates inclusive.

Curlew

From the 1st day of November to the 30th day of November in the same year, both dates inclusive.

Canada Goose

Greylag Goose

From the 1st day of September to the 30th day of September in the same year, both dates inclusive.

Woodpigeon

From the 1st day of June to the 31st day of January in the following year, both dates inclusive.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Order is to amend the Open Seasons list of huntable species of wild birds by the provision of the hunting season for Red-legged Partridge from 1st November to 31st January, both dates inclusive.
