SOCIAL WELFARE ACT, 1996 (PART IV) (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1996

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 16 of the Social Welfare Act, 1996 (No. 7 of 1996), hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare Act, 1996 (Part IV) (Commencement) Order, 1996.

2. Part IV of the Social Welfare Act, 1996 shall come into operation on the 2nd day of October, 1996.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order provides that Part IV of the Social Welfare Act, 1996 will come into operation with effect from the 2nd day of October, 1996.

Part IV of the 1996 Act provides for the introduction of a new Disability Allowance which replaces the existing Disabled Person's Maintenance Allowance scheme.
