CONTROL OF DOGS (RESTRICTION OF CERTAIN DOGS (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1996

The Minister for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 19 and 31 of the Control of Dogs Act, 1986 (No. 32 of 1986), hereby makes the following regulations:—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Control of Dogs (Restriction of Certain Dogs) (Amendment) Regulations, 1996.

2. Article 4 of the Control of Dogs (Restriction of Certain Dogs) Regulations, 1991 ( S.I. No. 123 of 1991 ) as amended by the Control of Dogs (Restriction of Certain Dogs) (Amendment) Regulations, 1991 ( S.I. No. 146 of 1991 ) is hereby amended by the deletion of sub-article (4) and the substitution therefor of the following sub-article:

"(4) Articles 5 and 6 of these Regulations shall not apply to a dog which is being used:

(a) by a bona fide rescue team for the purpose of searching for a missing person, or

(b) by a Constable of the Dublin Port and Docks Board Harbour Police Force or by an Airport Police Fire Service Officer at a State airport in the execution of their respective duties.".
