WILDLIFE (WILD BIRDS) (OPEN SEASONS) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1996.

I, Michael D. Higgins. Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 8 and 24 of the Wildlife Act. 1976 (No. 39 of 1976), and the Heritage (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order, 1994 ( S.I. No. 443 of 1994 ), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Wildlife (Wild Birds) (Open Seasons) (Amendment) Order, 1996.

(2) The Wildlife (Wild Birds) (Open Seasons) Orders. 1979 to 1995, and this Order may be cited together as the Wildlife (Wild Birds) (Open Seasons) Orders, 1979 to 1996.

2. In this Order the "Principal Order" means the Wildlife (Wild Birds) (Open Seasons) Order, 1979 ( S.I. No. 192 of 1979 ).

3. The First Schedule to the Principal Order is hereby amended by the insertion of the following entries in Part I:

Wild Birds	Open Season
Canada Goose	From 1st September to 30th September, in the same year, both dates inclusive.
Greylag Goose	From 1st September to 30th September, in the same year, both dates inclusive.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The effect of this Order is to amend the Open Seasons list of huntable species of wild birds by the addition of (a) the Canada Goose and (b) the Greylag Goose for the period from 1st September to 30th September, both dates inclusive.
