BOVINE DISEASES (LEVIES) REGULATIONS, 1996.

I, IVAN YATES, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 2 (2) and 19 (1) of the Bovine Diseases (Levies) Act, 1979 (No. 26 of 1979), as amended by the Bovine Diseases Levies (Amendment) Act, 1996 (No. 5 of 1996) and as adapted by the Agriculture and Food (Alteration of Name of Department and Title Minister) Order, 1993 ( S.I. No. 11 of 1993 ), hereby make the following Regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Bovine Diseases (Levies) Regulations, 1996.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of April, 1996.

2. The amount of levy payable under section 2 of the Bovine Diseases (Levies) Act, 1979 (No. 26 of 1979), shall—

( a ) as regards milk, be 0.5 pence per gallon, and

( b ) as regards animals slaughtered or exported live, be £2.50 per animal.

3. The Bovine Diseases (Levies) Regulations, 1993 ( S.I. No. 115 of 1993 ), are hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations which came into effect on the 1st of April, 1996 prescribe new rates of disease levy on milk for processing and on bovine animals slaughtered or exported live.
