SOCIAL WELFARE ACT, 1994 (PART IV) (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1994.

The Minister for Social Welfare in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 14 of the Social Welfare Act, 1994 (No. 4 of 1994), hereby order as follows—

1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare Act, 1994 (Part IV) (Commencement) Order, 1994.

2. Part IV of the Social Welfare Act, 1994 shall come into operation on the 28th day of October, 1994.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order brings Part IV of the Social Welfare Act, 1994 into effect from 28th October, 1994.

Part IV provides for the introduction of a new Survivor's Pension scheme under which widowers will become entitled to a pension on the basis of the existing conditions applied in determining entitlement to Widow's (Contributory) Pension.
