ROAD TRAFFIC (SPEED LIMITS) (COUNTY BOROUGH OF LIMERICK AND COUNTY OF LIMERICK) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1994.

The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 and 45 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and section 46 of the said Act (as amended by section 25 of the Road Traffic Act 1968 (No. 25 of 1968)), hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Limerick and County of Limerick) (Amendment) Regulations, 1994.

(2) The Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Limerick and County of Limerick) Regulations, 1992 and these Regulations shall be construed together and may be cited collectively as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Limerick and County of Limerick) (Amendment) Regulations 1992 to 1994.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 25th day of March, 1994.

3. In these Regulations "the Principal Regulations" means the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Limerick and County of Limerick) Regulations, 1992 ( S.I. No. 109 of 1992 ).

4. The First Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by the deletion of reference 1 and the substitution therefor of the following reference:

"The following road in the County Borough of Limerick:—

The Tipperary Road (National Road N24) between the county borough boundary and a point 20 metres south east of its junction with the Ring Road."

5. The Second Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by the addition thereto after reference 37 of the following reference:

"38. The following roads at Pallas Green:

( a ) The Limerick-Oola Road (National Road N24) between a point 351 metres north-west of its junction with the Cappamore-Nicker Road and a point 280 metres south-east of the said junction.

( b ) The Cappamore-Nicker Road between a point 870 metres north-east of its junction with the Limerick-Oola Road (National Road N24) and a point 500 metres south-west of the said junction."

6. The Third Schedule of the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by:

( a ) the deletion of paragraph (c) of Reference 18 and the substitution therefor of:

"(c) The Dublin Road (National Road N7) between the county borough boundary and a point 205 metres east of its junction with the entrance road to the Hawthorns housing estate."

( b ) the deletion of paragraph (d) of reference 18 and the substitution therefor of:

"(d) The Tipperary Road (National Road N24) between the county borough boundary and a point 20 metres south east of its junction with the Ring Road."

( c ) the addition thereto after reference 26 of the following reference:

"27. The following road at Monegay:—

The Newcastle West-Tournafulla road for a distance of 410 metres north-east of its junction with the Gardenfield Road."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County Borough of Limerick and County of Limerick) Regulations, 1992 by prescribing speed limits on certain roads in Limerick City and County.

Ambulances, Fire Brigades and Garda Síochána vehicles, while being used in the course of duty, are exempt from the speed limits.
