LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT, 1991, COMMENCEMENT ORDER, 1993.

The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 1 (10) of the Local Government Act, 1991 (No. 11 of 1991), hereby orders as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Local Government Act, 1991 , (Commencement) Order, 1993.

2. On the 1st day of January, 1994, sections 43 and 51 of the Local Government Act, 1991 shall come into operation.

3. On the 1st day of January, 1994, section 4 (1) of and the Schedule to the Local Government Act, 1991 shall come into operation to the extent specified in the First Schedule to this Order.

4. On the 1st day of January, 1994, section 4 (2) of the Local Government Act, 1991 shall come into operation for the purpose of the revocations specified in the Second Schedule to this Order.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Orders brings into operation on 1st January, 1994 provisions of the Local Government Act, 1991 relating to establishment of regional authorities and expenses of local authority members and repeals or revokes previous provisions relating to the latter.
