DUBLIN AREA TRAFFIC AND PARKING (AMENDMENT) BYE-LAWS 1993.

I, PATRICK J. CULLIGAN, Commissioner of the Garda Síochána, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Sections 89 and 90 (as amended by Section 6 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968)) of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961), (as adapted by the Local Government (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1977 ( S.I. No. 269 of 1977 )), with the consent of the Minister for the Environment and after consultation with the Right Honourable the Lord Mayor, Aldermen and Burgesses of Dublin, the council of the county of Dublin, the council of the borough of Dun Laoghaire and the Commissioners of the town of Balbriggan, hereby make the following Bye-laws in respect of the area comprising the county borough of Dublin and the administrative county of Dublin, including the borough of Dun Laoghaire and the town of Balbriggan.

1. These Bye-laws may be cited as the Dublin Area Traffic and Parking (Amendment) Bye-laws, 1993.

2. The Dublin Area Traffic and Parking Bye-laws, 1986 ( S.I. No. 182 of 1986 ), are hereby amended—

( a ) by the substitution of the following Bye-law for Bye-law 27:

"27. The fee for a parking disc shall be—

( a ) in case the disc is issued by Dublin Corporation (within the meaning of Part IV of the Local Government Act, 1991 (No. 11 of 1991 )), 80p, and

( b ) in case the disc is issued by the council of the county of Dublin, the Corporation of Dun Laoghaire or the Commissioners of the town of Balbriggan, 20p.", and

( b ) by the substitution of the following Bye-law for Bye-law 34:

"34. A resident's parking disc shall contain the following particulars—

( a ) the name of the local authority by which it is issued,

( b ) the registration number of the vehicle in respect of which it is issued,

( c ) the date of issue,

( d ) the street or streets to which it relates,

( e ) the period to which it relates,

( f ) a copy of the signature of the officer who issued it on behalf of the local authority.".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Bye-laws amend Bye-law 27 of the Dublin Area Traffic and Parking Bye-laws 1986 ( S.I. No. 182 of 1986 ) to provide for an increase in the fee for a parking disc from 20p to 80p in the county borough of Dublin. The fee for the rest of the Dublin area will remain at 20p.

Bye-law 34 is amended to remove the requirement that a residents parking disc contain the name and address of the person to whom it is issued.
