ROAD TRAFFIC (SPEED LIMITS) (COUNTY OF ROSCOMMON) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1993.

The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 and 45 of the Road Traffic Act 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and section 46 of the said Act (as amended by section 23 of the Road Traffic Act 1968 (No. 25 of 1968) hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Roscommon) (Amendment) Regulations, 1993.

(2) These Regulations and the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Roscommon) Regulations, 1988 ( S.I. No. 251 of 1988 ) shall be construed together and may be cited collectively as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Roscommon) Regulations 1988 to 1993.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 28th day of April, 1993.

3. In these Regulations "the Principal Regulations" means the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Roscommon) Regulations 1988 ( S.I. No. 251 of 1988 ).

4. The following reference shall be substituted for reference 2 of the Second Schedule to the Principal Regulations:

"2. The following roads adjacent to the Urban District of Athlone:—

( a ) St. Coman's Park.

( b ) The old Galway Road (National Road N6) for a distance of 920 metres south west of the point where the boundary of the urban district of Athlone intersects the north western side of the road.

( c ) The old Tuam Road between its junction with the old Galway Road (National Road N6) and a point 137 metres east of its junction with the Mountwilliam Road.

( d ) The new Tuam Road for a distance of 340 metres north west of its junction with the Old Galway Road (National Road N6).

( e ) The Roscommon Road (National Road N61) for a distance of 490 metres north west of the point where the boundary of the urban district of Athlone intersects the north eastern side of the road."

5. The following reference shall be substituted for reference 2 of the Third Schedule to the Principal Regulations:

"2. The following roads adjacent to the Urban District of Athlone:—

( a ) The old Tuam Road between a point 137 metres east of its junction with the Mountwilliam Road and its junction with the new Tuam Road.

( b ) The new Tuam Road from a point 55 metres south of its junction with the old Tuam Road to a point on the Tuam Road 37 metres east of its junction with the Taughmaconnell Road."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These regulations amend the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Roscommon) Regulations 1988 ( S.I. No. 251 of 1988 ) by prescribing new 30 mph and 40 mph speed limits on certain roads adjacent to Athlone.
