COINAGE (DIMENSION OF FIVE PENCE COIN) REGULATIONS, 1992.

I, BERTIE AHERN, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 (6) of the Decimal Currency Act, 1969 (No. 23 of 1969), hereby make the following Regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Coinage (Dimension of Five Pence Coin) Regulations, 1992.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of June, 1992.

2. In these Regulations "five pence coin" means a coin of the denomination of five pence provided under section 3 (1) of the Decimal Currency Act, 1969 (No. 23 of 1969).

3. The diameter of a five pence coin shall be 1.8500 centimetres and, accordingly, the First Schedule to the Coinage (Dimensions and Designs) Regulations, 1969 ( S.I. No. 160 of 1969 ), is hereby amended by the substitution opposite the mention of five pence of "1.8500" for "2.3595".

4. The graining upon the edge of a five pence coin shall be of fine mill.
