INTERNATIONAL CARRIAGE OF GOODS BY ROAD ACT, 1990 (CMR CONTRACTING PARTY) ORDER, 1992.

I, MÁIRE GEOGHEGAN-QUINN, Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 (2) of the International Carriage of Goods by Road Act, 1990 (No. 13 of 1990), as adapted by the Tourism and Transport (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1991 ( S.I. No. 25 of 1991 ), and after consultation with the Minister for Foreign Affairs, hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the International Carriage of Goods by Roads Act, 1990 (CMR Contracting Party) Order, 1992.

2. This Order and the International Carriage of Goods by Road Act, 1990 (CMR Contracting Parties) Order, 1991 ( S.I. No. 160 of 1991 ), may be cited as the International Carriage of Goods by Road Act, 1990 (CMR Contracting Parties) Orders, 1991 and 1992.

3. Part I of the Schedule to the International Carriage of Goods by Road Act, 1990 (CMR Contracting Parties) Order, 1991 ( S.I. No. 160 of 1991 ), is hereby amended by the insertion of "Hungary".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order, made by the Minister for Tourism, Transport and Communications, after consultation with the Minister for Foreign Affairs, specifies that Hungary is a Contracting Party to CMR, that is the Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road as amended by the 1978 Protocol thereto.

There are 18 other Contracting Parties to CMR, namely, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom (as specified in the International Carriage of Goods by Road Act, 1990 (CMR Contracting Parties) Order, 1991 ( S.I. No. 160 of 1991 )).

The 5 Contracting Parties to the Convention only are Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Yugoslavia and the former Union of Soviet Socialists Republics.
