ROAD TRAFFIC (REMOVAL, STORAGE AND DISPOSAL OF VEHICLES) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1991.

The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 5 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and Section 97 of the said Act as substituted by section 63 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968) hereby makes the following Regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Removal, Storage and Disposal of Vehicles) (Amendment) Regulations, 1991.

2. These Regulations and the Road Traffic (Removal, Storage and Disposal of Vehicles) Regulations 1983 may be collectively cited as the Road Traffic (Removal, Storage and Disposal of Vehicles) Regulations 1983 to 1991.

3. The Road Traffic (Removal, Storage and Disposal of Vehicles) (Amendment) Regulations, 1990 are hereby revoked.

4. Sub-Article (1) of Article 7 of the Road Traffic (Removal, Storage and Disposal of Vehicles) Regulations, 1983 ( S.I. No. 91 of 1983 ) is hereby amended—

(a) by the substitution of "£75" for "£50" in paragraph (a) and

(b) by the substitution of "£25" for "£15" in paragraph (b).

5. These Regulations shall come into force on the 15th day of July, 1991.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the Road Traffic (Removal, Storage and Disposal of Vehicles) Regulations, 1983 by increasing from £50 to £75 the charge for the release of a vehicle payable to a road authority or the Garda Commissioner by the owner of a vehicle which has been towed away in accordance with the Regulations and by increasing from £15 to £25 per day the storage charge payable for the period during which such vehicles have been stored.
