LOCAL ELECTIONS (SPECIFICATION OF LOCAL ELECTION YEAR) ORDER, 1990.

The Minister for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 2 of the Local Elections Act, 1973 (No. 7 of 1973) hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Local Elections (Specification of Local Election Year) Order, 1990.

2. The election of members of every local authority falling to be held in the year 1990 pursuant to section 81 of the Electoral Act, 1963 , as amended, shall be held in the year 1991.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order shall not come into operation unless and until a copy of the Order has been laid before each House of the Oireachtas and the Order has been confirmed by resolution of each such House. The effect of the Order is to postpone to 1991 the local elections otherwise due to be held in 1990.
