ST. JAMES'S HOSPITAL BOARD (ESTABLISHMENT) ORDER, 1971 (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1989.

The Minister for Health in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Sections 3 to 6 of the Health (Corporate Bodies) Act, 1961 (No. 27 of 1961), hereby orders as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited as the St. James's Hospital Board (Establishment) Order, 1971 (Amendment) Order, 1989.

2. In this Order—

"the Establishment Order" means the St. James's Hospital Board (Establishment) Order, 1971 ( S.I. No. 187 of 1971 );

"the Order of 1984" means the St. James's Hospital Board (Establishment) Order, 1971 (Amendment) Order, 1984 ( S.I. No. 211 of 1984 ).

3. Article 5 of the Establishment Order (as substituted by article 3 of the Order of 1984) is hereby amended—

( a ) by the substitution for sub-article (1) of the following sub-article:—

"(1) The Board shall consist of 18 members", and

( b ) by the substitution for sub-article (2) of the following sub-article:—

"(2) Two of the members shall be appointed by the Minister one of whom shall be appointed by the Minister to be the chairman of the Board.".

4. The Establishment Order is hereby amended by the substitution for Article 6 (as substituted by article 4 of the Order of 1984) of the following article:—

"6. The term of office of a member of the Board shall be such period not exceeding five years as may be specified by the Minister when appointing him and he shall hold office for the period for which he is so appointed unless he sooner dies, resigns or ceases to be a member in accordance with article 8 of this Order.".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Order is to increase the membership of the St. James's Hospital Board from seventeen to eighteen and to provide for the appointment of members for a term of office not exceeding five years.
