SOCIAL WELFARE ACT, 1989 (SECTION 6) (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1989.

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 6 of the Social Welfare Act, 1989 (No. 4 of 1989), hereby orders as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Social Welfare Act, 1989 (Section 6) (Commencement) Order, 1989.

2. Section 6 of the Social Welfare Act, 1989 shall come into operation on the 27th day of October, 1989.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order brings into effect the provisions of section 6 of the Social Welfare Act, 1989 which provide for the introduction of the widower's (non-contributory) pension and deserted husband's allowance schemes.
