TOTALISATOR ACT, 1929 TOTALISATOR LICENCE

I, ALBERT REYNOLDS, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Totalisator Act, 1929 (No. 22 of 1929), hereby grant to Bord na gCon a licence to set up, maintain and work one or more totalisators as defined by that Act on every greyhound race track in respect of which a licence under section 22 of the Greyhound Industry Act, 1958 (No. 12 of 1958), is for the time being in force during the period of three years beginning on the 1st day of February, 1990.

This licence is granted—

( a ) for all occasions on which the greyhound race tracks are used during the said period of three years, and

( b ) subject to the conditions set out in the Schedule.

SCHEDULE

CONDITIONS

1. In these Conditions—

"the Board", "greyhound race", "greyhound race track" and "greyhound race track licence" have the same meanings respectively as in the Greyhound Industry Act, 1958 (No. 12 of 1958).

2. The Board shall not work a totalisator set up under this licence for the staking of money on any event other than a greyhound race held on a greyhound race track in respect of which a greyhound race track licence is for the time being in force.

3. (1) The Board shall not allow credit betting on a totalisator set up under this licence.

(2) The Board shall not allow facilities to any person on any greyhound race track for the acceptance of credit bets which would eventually be staked by means of a totalisator set up under this licence.

(3) In the foregoing paragraph "facilities" includes payment by way of commission or otherwise.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

Section 3 of the Totalisator Act 1929 empowers the Minister for Finance to grant a licence to set up, maintain and work totalisators at greyhound race tracks. The licence under which Bord na gCon at present operates totalisators expires on 31 January 1990. This Regulation renews Bord na gCon's licence for three years with effect from 1 February 1990.
