JURISDICTION OF COURTS AND ENFORCEMENT OF JUDGMENTS (EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES) ACT, 1988 (SECTION 3) (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1989.

I, GERARD COLLINS, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 15 (3) (b) of the Jurisdiction of Courts and Enforcement of Judgments (European Communities) Act, 1988 (No. 3 of 1988), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Jurisdiction of Courts and Enforcement of Judgments (European Communities) Act, 1988 (Section 3) (Commencement) Order, 1989.

2. Section 3 of the Jurisdiction of Courts and Enforcement of Judgments (European Communities) Act, 1988 (No. 3 of 1988), shall, in so far as it relates to the 1982 Accession Convention, come into operation on the 1st day of April, 1989.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The Jurisdiction of the Courts and Enforcement of Judgments (European Communities) Act, 1988 came into operation on 1 June 1988 except for section 3 in so far as it related to the 1982 Greek Accession Convention ( S.I. No. 91 of 1988 ).

This Order fixes 1 April 1989 as the date on which section 3 of the Act in so far as it relates to the 1982 Greek Accession Convention comes into operation. On that date the 1982 Greek Accession Convention will enter into force between Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg and the Netherlands.
