POSTAL ORDER (INLAND) AMENDMENT (No. 20) SCHEME, 1988.

AN POST, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by the Post Office (Money Orders) Acts, 1848 to 1883, and by the Postal and Telecommunications Services Act, 1983 (No. 24 of 1983), hereby makes the following regulations:—

1. These regulations may be cited as the Postal Order (Inland) Amendment (No. 20) Scheme, 1988.

2. These regulations shall be operative from the 31st day of December, 1986.

3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these regulations.

4. Regulation 3 of the Postal Order (Inland) Regulations, 1905 (S.R. & O. 1089 of 1905), is hereby amended by the addition of the words "or such other form as An Post may decide" after the words "in the First Schedule hereto".

5. Regulation 8 of the Postal Order (Inland) Regulations, 1905 (S.R. & O. 1089 of 1905), is hereby amended by the deletion of the words "and the amount of the poundage shall be denominated by means of such stamp or mark".

6. Regulation 14 of the Postal Order (Inland) Regulations, 1905 (S.R. & O. 1089 of 1905), is hereby amended by the substitution of the word "six" for the word "three".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Instrument, which has effect from the 31st day of December, 1986, is to facilitate the introduction of new forms of postal order and to increase the period of validity of postal orders.
