DIPLOMATIC AND CONSULAR FEES (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1988.

I, BRIAN LENIHAN, Minister for Foreign Affairs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 of the Diplomatic and Consular Fees Act, 1939 (No. 31 of 1939), as adapted by the External Affairs (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1971 ( S.I. No. 158 of 1971 ), hereby, with the consent of the Minister for Finance, make the following Regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Diplomatic and Consular Fees (Amendment) Regulations, 1988.

(2) The Diplomatic and Consular Fees Regulations, 1982 to 1984, and these Regulations may be cited together as the Diplomatic and Consular Fees Regulations, 1982 to 1988.

(3) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1989.

2. The Diplomatic and Consular Fees Regulations, 1982 ( S.I. No. 344 of 1982 ), as amended by the Diplomatic and Consular Fees (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations, 1984 ( S.I. No. 242 of 1984 ), are hereby amended:

( a ) in Regulation 7—

(i) by the substitution of "processing" for "granting" in both places where it occurs, and

(ii) by the substitution of "for citizens" for "to citizens".

( b ) in the Second Schedule by the substitution of the following for Parts I and II:

For the issue of a new passport for the unexpired period of validity of an existing valid passport returned for cancellation:

( c ) new 96 page passport where the passport returned for cancellation is a 32 page pasport

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The purpose of these Regulations is to provide for changes in the fees payable in regard to travel documents and documents of identity and for the amendment of Regulation 7 in the Diplomatic and Consular Fees Regulations 1982 ( S.I. No. 344 of 1982 ) and for the amendment of the Diplomatic and Consular Fees (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations, 1984 ( S.I. No. 242 of 1984 ).
