EXPLANATORY NOTE

This instrument renews for the year 1989 an existing instrument which will expire on 31st December, 1988. It appoints a nominal quota of 1,000 square yards as the quantity of textile piece goods originating in certain countries which may be imported during the period 1st January, 1989 to 31st December, 1989. This nominal quota has been appointed to facilitate more satisfactory administration. The Minister for Industry and Commerce is prepared to license, during the quota period, not less than 300 tonnes of textile piece goods consonant with the restrictions in operation for the different countries concerned.
