RETAIL PRICES (INTOXICATING LIQUOR) ORDER, 1988.

The Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 22A and 22C (inserted by the Prices (Amendment) Act, 1965 (No. 23 of 1965) of the Prices Act, 1958 (No. 4 of 1958) as amended by the Prices (Amendment) Act, 1972 (No. 20 of 1972), and the Prices Stabilisation Order, 1973 (No. 96 of 1973), hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Retail Prices (Intoxicating Liquor) Order, 1988.

2. This Order shall apply to the county borough of Dublin and the administrative county of Dublin.

3. This Order shall come into operation on the 30th day of July, 1988.

4. This Order applies to the following intoxicating liquors—

(a) draught stout, draught ale or draught lager sold by the pint or half-pint,

(b) stout, ale or lager sold by the pint bottle or the half-pint bottle,

(c) whiskey or whisky sold by the glass or half-glass,

(d) gin sold by the glass or half-glass,

(e) vodka sold by the glass or half-glass, but does not apply to such liquors when sold for consumption off the premises in which they are sold or when sold in premises registered under the Tourist Traffic Acts, 1939 to 1987.

5. The price charged in a particular part of any premises for intoxicating liquor to which this Order applies shall be the price obtaining for that liquor on the 22nd day of July, 1988, in that part of those premises.

6. For the purpose of paragraph 4 of this Order, the price specified in respect of a particular intoxicating liquor in any notice under the Retail Price (Beverages in Licensed Premises) Display Order, 1976 ( S.I. No. 146 of 1976 ) displayed in a particular part of premises on the 22nd day of July, 1988, shall be deemed to be the price obtaining on that day for that intoxicating liquor in that part of those premises.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order fixes the maximum retail price for intoxicating liquor sold for on-premises consumption in a particular part of any licensed premises. The maximum prices are those obtaining on the 22nd day of July in that part of those premises. The Order does not apply to liquors sold for consumption off the premises or liquors sold in premises registered under the Tourist Traffic Acts 1939 to 1987.
