LOTTERY PRIZES REGULATIONS, 1987.

I, ALAN M. DUKES, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 33 (2) of the National Lottery Act, 1986 (No. 28 of 1986), hereby make the following Regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Lottery Prizes Regulations, 1987.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 23rd day of March, 1987.

2. The Gaming and Lotteries Act, 1956 (No. 2 of 1956), is hereby amended—

(a) by the substitution in subsections 2 (b) and 4 of section 27 of "£3,000" for "three hundred pounds",

and

(b) by the substitution in section 28 (2) (c) of "£10,000" for "five hundred pounds".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations increase, with effect from 23 March, 1987, the limits on the total value of prizes for lotteries held under section 27 and 28 of the Gaming and Lotteries Act, 1956 . The limit on the total value of prizes for the lotteries held under section 27 of 1956 Act is increased form £300 to £3,000. The limit on the total value of prizes for the lotteries held under section 28 of 1956 Act is increased from £500 to £10,000.
