RETAIL PRICES (PETROL) DISPLAY ORDER 1986.

I, MICHAEL NOONAN, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 19 of the Prices Act, 1958 (No. 4 of 1958), as amended by the Prices Act, 1972 (No. 20 of 1972), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Retail Prices (Petrol) Display Order, 1986).

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of March, 1987.

3. In this Order "petrol" means mineralhydrocarbon light oil within the meaning of Article 11(15) of the Imposition of Duties (No. 221) (Excise Duties) Order, 1975 ( S.I. No. 307 of 1975 ) which is intended for use in mechanically propelled vehicles.

4. Every person who carries on the business of selling petrol by retail shall exhibit a notice at the premises where the busineses is carried on which shall specify—

( a ) each grade of petrol on sale by retail at the premises,

( b ) opposite the mention of each such grade, the retail price expressed in pence per litre charged by him at that premises for that grade of petrol.

5. A notice exhibited at any premises pursuant to Article 4 of this Order shall be clearly visible and easily legible from the public road in the vicinity of such premises to any person intending to buy petrol at such premises.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order requires every person who carries on the business of selling petrol by retail to display, in the manner specified in the Order, the retail price or retail prices charged by him for each grade of petrol.
