MERCHANDISE MARKS (PREPACKED GOODS) (MARKING AND QUANTITIES) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1986.

I, MICHAEL NOONAN, Minister for Industry and Commerce, after consultation with such persons as appear to me to be substantially interested in the general subject matter of the Order following and after compliance with subsection (10) of section 2 of the Merchandise Marks Act, 1970 (No. 10 of 1970), hereby, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by the said section 2, as adapted by the Industry, Trade, Commerce and Tourism (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1986 ( S.I. No. 41 of 1986 ), order as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Merchandise Marks (Prepacked Goods) (Marking and Quantities) (Amendment) Order, 1986.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of July, 1986.

3. The Merchandise Marks (Prepacked Goods) (Marking and Quantities) Order, 1973 ( S.I. No. 28 of 1973 ), is hereby amended by—

(a) the deletion in column (1) of the First Schedule thereto of "Frozen or";

(b) the insertion in column (1) of the said First Schedule after "dried peas" of "Frozen Vegetables";

(c) the deletion in Part (1) of the Second Schedule thereto of "(other than peas)" in the first place where it occurs; and

(d) the insertion in Part (1) of the said Second Schedule after "Frozen foods" of "(other than frozen vegetables)".

4. Part I of the First Schedule to the Order of 1973 shall, insofar as it relates to frozen vegetables, have effect as if the following were substituted for the matter in column (2) of that Schedule:

"150 grams

300 grams

450 grams

600 grams

750 grams

1 kilogram

1.5 kilograms

2 kilograms

2.5 kilograms".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order amends the Merchandise Marks (Prepacked Goods) (Marking and Quantities) Order, 1973 (as amended) so as to prescribe the sizes in which prepacked frozen vegetables may be sold with effect from 1st July, 1986.
