INFECTIOUS DISEASES (MAINTENANCE) (No. 2) REGULATIONS, 1984.

The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers vested in him by section 5 and sub-section (5) of section 44 of the Health Act, 1947 (No. 28 of 1947), hereby makes the following Regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Infectious Diseases (Maintenance) (No. 2) Regulations, 1984.

2. Where a person is or becomes entitled to payment under sub-section (3) of section 44 of the Health Act, 1947 in accordance with the Infectious Diseases (Maintenance) Regulations, 1984 ( S.I. No. 135 of 1984 ) to or in respect of himself or his dependants, in respect of the week ending on the 7th December, 1984, any amount so payable for that week shall be increased by a sum equal to that amount.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of these Regulations is to amend the existing Regulations governing the payment of maintenance allowances to persons being treated for certain infectious diseases — the Infectious Diseases (Maintenance) Regulations, 1984 ( S.I. No. 135 of 1984 ) — and to provide in respect of the week ending 7th December, 1984, for increases in the maximum rates of allowances payable, by a sum equal to those amounts.

The infectious diseases for which maintenance allowances are payable are acute anterior poliomyelitis, diphtheria, dysentery, salmonellosis, tuberculosis, typhoid and paratyphoid fevers, typhus and viral haemorrhagic diseases (including lassa fever and marburg disease).
