DUBLIN TRAFFIC AND PARKING TEMPORARY RULES, 1984.

I, LAURENCE WREN, Commissioner of the Garda Síochána, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 89 and 90 (as amended by section 6 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968)) of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961), the Local Government (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1977 ( S.I. No. 269 of 1977 ), and with the consent of the Minister for the Environment, hereby make the following temporary rules in respect of the area comprising the county borough of Dublin, the borough of Dún Laoghaire, the county of Dublin and the town of Balbriggan:

1. These rules may be cited as the Dublin Traffic and Parking Temporary Rules, 1984.

2. These rules shall come into operation on the 17th day of February, 1984, and shall expire on the 23rd day of April, 1984.

3. In these rules—

"licensed public hire vehicle" has the same meaning as in article 3 (1) of the Road Traffic (Public Service Vehicles) Regulations, 1963 ( S.I. No. 191 of 1963 );

"the principal rules" means the Dublin Traffic and Parking Temporary Rules, 1983 ( S.I. No. 105 of 1983 );

"with-flow bus lane" has the same meaning as in rule 3 (1) of the principal rules.

4. In Part VII of the principal rules—

(1) Paragraph (1) of rule 31 shall not apply to a licensed public hire vehicle which bears a roof sign clearly indicating that the vehicle is a vehicle for public hire and is then being used in the course of business as a public hire vehicle;

(2) Rule 32 shall not apply to a licensed public hire vehicle while merely picking up and setting down passengers subject to a contract of hiring.

5. Rule 4 of these rules shall apply only to the with-flow bus lanes specified in the Schedule hereto and during the appropriate period so specified.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These rules amend the Dublin Traffic and Parking Temporary Rules, 1983 ( S.I. No. 105 of 1983 ) to allow licensed public hire vehicles access to the with-flow bus lanes on the Drumcondra and Blackrock routes, during the period 17th February, 1984 to 23rd April, 1984, in the course of their business.
