Meetings and procedure of Board.

7.—(1) The Board shall hold such and so many meetings as may be necessary for the performance of its functions but shall hold not less than six meetings in each year beginning with the year after that in which it is established.

(2) The Minister shall fix the date, time and place of the first meeting of the Board.

(3) At a meeting of the Board, the chairman of the Board shall, if present, be chairman of the meeting, but if the chairman of the Board is not present at the meeting or if the office of such chairman is vacant, the vice-chairman of the Board shall, if present, be chairman of the meeting, but if the vice-chairman of the Board is not present at the meeting or the office of such vice-chairman is vacant, then the members of the Board present at the meeting shall choose one of their number to be chairman of the meeting.

(4) The quorum for a meeting of the Board shall be five or such other number (not being less than five) as may be determined from time to time by the Board.

(5) At a meeting of the Board, each member present shall have a vote and every question shall be determined by a majority of the votes of the members present and voting and, in the case of an equal division of votes, the chairman of the meeting shall have a second or casting vote.

(6) The Board may act notwithstanding one or more vacancies among its members.

(7) A member of the Board shall not receive any remuneration for acting as a member of the Board or as a member of a committee appointed under section 8 of this Act, but may be paid such travelling and subsistence allowances as may be approved of by the Minister with the consent of the Minister for the Public Service.

(8) Subject to the provisions of this Act, the Board shall regulate its procedure and business by rules or otherwise.
