ROAD TRAFFIC (LICENSING OF TRAILERS AND SEMI-TRAILERS) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1983. | ||
The Minister for the Environment in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 5 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and section 10 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968) hereby makes the following Regulations:— 1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Licensing of Trailers and Semi-Trailers) (Amendment) Regulations, 1983. | ||
(2) The Road Traffic (Licensing of Trailers and Semi-Trailers) Regulations, 1982 ( S.I. No. 35 of 1982 ) and these Regulations shall be construed as one and may be cited together as the Road Traffic (Licensing of Trailers and Semi-Trailers) Regulations, 1982 and 1983. 2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of June, 1983. 3. Article 4 of the Road Traffic (Licensing of Trailers and Semi-Trailers) Regulations, 1982 shall be amended by the addition of after sub-article (2) of the following sub-article:— | ||
"(3) On application for a licence for a vehicle the use of which in a public place is prohibited unless there is in force a certificate of roadworthiness under the provisions of the European Communities (Vehicle Testing) Regulations, 1981 to 1983, the owner shall produce to the licensing authority a certificate of roadworthiness relating to the vehicle issued under those Regulations and in force at the date of the application." | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE. | ||
These Regulations amend the Road Traffic (Licensing of Trailers and Semi-Trailers) Regulations, 1982 to provide for the production to licensing authorities of a current certificate of roadworthiness where application is being made for removal of a licence in respect of a trailer or semi-trailer required to undergo annual roadworthiness testing. |
