INFECTIOUS DISEASES (MAINTENANCE) (NO. 2) REGULATIONS, 1982.

The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers vested in him by section 5 and sub-section (5) of section 44 of the Health Act, 1947 (No. 28 of 1947), hereby makes the following Regulations—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Infectious Diseases (Maintenance) (No. 2) Regulations, 1982.

2. Where a person is or becomes entitled to payment under sub-section (3) of section 44 of the Health Act, 1947 in accordance with the Infectious Diseases (Maintenance) Regulations, 1982 ( S.I. No. 76 of 1982 ) to or in respect of his child dependants, in respect of each of the weeks commencing on the 5th day of September and the 5th day of December 1982 any amount so payable by way of a child dependant's allowance for each of those weeks shall be increased by a sum equal to that amount.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of these Regulations is to amend the existing Regulations governing the payment of maintenance allowances to persons being treated for certain infectious diseases—the Infectious Diseases (Maintenance) Regulations, 1982 ( S.I. No. 76 of 1982 )—and to provide in respect of each of the weeks commencing 5 September and 5 December 1982 for increases in the maximum rates of the element of the allowance appropriate to the recipients' child dependants by a sum equal to those amounts.

The Infectious Diseases for which maintenance allowances are payable are acute anterior poliomyelitis, diphtheria, dysentery, lassa fever, paratyphoid A, paratyphoid B, rabies, salmonella infection, scarlet fever, streptococcal sore throat, tuberculosis, and typhus fever.
